What is Cinefoil?
Cinefoil is a special black aluminum foil material with shape retention, heat resistance and weather resistance. Commonly used in filmmaking and photography. Its main function is to block or redirect light, or to create special light effects.
Cinefoil can be easily molded into any shape, such as barndoors, snoots, flags and other light controlling configurations. To meet various lighting needs.
Cinefoil has a matte black coating on both sides, which is great for covering up light leaks and eliminating unwanted reflections.
The material is lightweight and durable, and can be easily held in place with tape, staples, or adhesive.
Cinefoil is also sometimes referred to as Blackfoil, Photofoil, Studio foil, because of the similarity in usage between them, with some minor differences.

Blackwrap VS Photofoil
Cinefoil contains Blackfoil and Photofoil. Blackfoil is used to block light while Photofoil is used to reflect light. They are all part of the Cinefoil family and can be selected according to your needs.
Both Photofoil and Blackwrap are widely used in film production, photography, stage lighting design and other fields.
Production process: Blackwrap is made of fiber paper and aluminum foil, while Photofoil is made of polyester film and aluminum foil.
Paint finish: Blackwrap has a matte black finish to absorb light, while Photofoil has a mirror finish to reflect light.
Foil Thickness: Blackwrap's aluminum foil is thicker than Photofoil, which makes it more durable and better light-blocking.
Size: Both Blackwrap and Photofoil can be cropped and customized as needed. But Blackwrap is generally easier to crop and reshape than Photofoil.
Uses: Blackwrap is mainly used to block light so that it does not leak into unwanted areas. For example, it can be used to block lights or camera lenses. Photofoil, on the other hand, is mainly used to bounce light so that it illuminates areas that need more light. For example, it can be used to fill shadows or lighten a character's face.
Application scenarios: Photofoil: photography, stage lighting design. Blackwrap: film production, stage lighting design.
5 Reasons to Use Cinefoil
Control light direction
Cinefoil can be used to block or limit the direction of light, preventing light from passing through unwanted areas. It helps the photographer or gaffer to precisely control the intensity and angle of light to achieve the desired effect.
Prevent light reflection
The surface of Cinefoil is specially treated to effectively absorb light and prevent light reflection. This makes it an ideal tool for controlling light, especially in situations where reflections need to be reduced or eliminated, such as when photographing mirrored objects or using special lighting effects.
Focus light
Cinefoil can be used to focus light and direct it to the desired area. By shaping the Cinefoil, light can be focused on a specific subject or area to create the desired lighting effect.
Create special lighting effects
Cinefoil can be used to create various special lighting effects such as glows, shadows and reflections. By placing Cinefoil around a light source or lighting fixture, you can change the shape, intensity and distribution of light to create unique lighting effects.
Flexibility and ease of use
Cinefoil is very flexible and can be easily cut to the desired shape and size, or cut with scissors, knives or dies. It can be manually shaped into any shape to meet various lighting needs. This makes it very easy to use and suitable for a variety of shooting and lighting scenarios.
